Location
Wichita, KS with opportunities to support projects across Kansas and Missouri, including Lenexa, St. Louis, Jefferson City, and Springfield.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Field Control Engineer to support both construction and service projects by delivering high-quality HVAC controls installations, commissioning, and ongoing technical support. This role combines service, maintenance, and construction responsibilities to ensure customer satisfaction through technical excellence, safety, and timely execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end testing, programming, startup, commissioning, and servicing of HVAC control systems.
- Collaborate with Controls Engineers and Project Managers to complete installations and provide technical updates.
- Interpret control drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications to mount, assemble, program, and troubleshoot systems.
- Diagnose, repair, and optimize direct digital control (DDC) systems and HVAC controls equipment at customer sites.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, site surveys, equipment replacements, and system modifications.
- Provide technical support and training to customers, ensuring the highest level of satisfaction.
- Accurately document all work performed and maintain detailed project/job files.
- Prepare for on-site installation and service by reviewing layouts, anticipating challenges, and coordinating materials and workflow.
- Travel out of town weekly for project support; overnight stays and variable shifts may be required to meet customer needs. Travel expenses and meals are covered through company expense reporting and credit card.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in HVAC, Controls, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in HVAC and temperature control design preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and controls equipment.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting ability with functional knowledge of test equipment (e.g., multimeter).
- Proficiency with PCs, networks, databases, and operating systems is highly desired.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check (including MVR review).
