Job Purpose

The Club & Hub Flex Behavior Technician works across VIA’s Club & Hub program and Employment Services to provide direct instruction to adults with autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. Supports are provided across both center and community-based settings using evidence-based interventions founded upon the principles of applied behavior analysis. 

When working in VIA’s Club & Hub program, the Club & Hub Flex Behavior Technician will work with other staff to teach group activities, lead community-based activities, collect data, and plan activities. When working in VIA’s Employment Services, the Club & Hub Flex Behavior Technician will support individuals to develop both skills specific to individual job duties and interpersonal skills that are necessary to be successfully employed in the workplace. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Setup and Planning

  • Ensures that adult participants’ arrival and departure times are documented correctly when they start, end, or change services
  • Sets up materials and learning environments for adult participant(s) success 
  • Assists in creating, organizing, and maintaining group activities, clubs, and other necessary materials
  • Provides employment opportunities to job seekers receiving supported employment services
  • Assists with coordinating schedules and transportation for the individuals served

Daily Instruction

  • Ensures that each adult participant is actively engaged and making progress towards their individualized program goals and objectives
  • Runs group activities and clubs independently or in collaboration with other staff members
  • Provides supports as outlined in the individual’s Individualized Services Plan and in accordance with the service
  • Uses evidence-based instructional techniques during program implementation
  • Takes advantage of natural teaching opportunities
  • Implements behavior support plans (BSP) accurately
  • Implements additional instructional protocols accurately (e.g., meal preparation, toileting, etc.)
  • Supports individuals in competitive employment using systematic instructional techniques, compensatory strategies, job adaptation/modification and positive reinforcement strategies
  • Monitors and evaluates work performance by collecting skill acquisition and production data 
  • Communicates information from individuals, employers, and coworkers with assigned Employment Specialist or supervisor. 
  • Collaborates with employers and coworkers to develop natural supports in the work environment to increase the individual’s independence completing job duties
  • Assists adult participants in managing valuables including money and personal belongings
  • Leaves and arrives on time for community-based services
  • Safely transports participants in the community as needed
  • Assists with running evening and weekend events (e.g., SPARK Night, VIAble Ventures, etc.)

Documentation and Reporting

  • Writes detailed progress notes as required 
  • Prepares data and information from job-site to share with the Employment Specialist or supervisor
  • Maintains required documentation for each participant
  • Participates in team meetings with the individual, caregivers, DARS counselors, support coordinators, etc. as needed

Communication

  • Participates in team meetings, case reviews, and all staff meetings as requested
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other members of each adult participant’s multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors about individual needs requiring troubleshooting
  • Reports supply needs and inventory status in a timely manner (e.g., reinforcer supplies, program supplies, van maintenance/gasoline, etc.)
  • Regularly communicates with all participants, employers, and stakeholders to foster positive relationships and high satisfaction with program communication. 
  • Responds to all participant, guardian, and stakeholder communications in a timely manner (e.g. return phone calls, respond to emails) as directed by supervisor 

Data Collection and Analysis 

  • Collects data accurately
  • Maintains accurate graphs in digital format 
  • Updates all program information in data sheets or electronic data collection service in a timely manner (e.g., within 1 business day)
  • Takes initiative to problem solve group or individual programming needs
  • Communicates any remarkable trends in behavior that might need programming or intervention to supervisor

Emerging Responsibilities:

Employment Specialists (Level 1 and 2) may assume the following responsibilities as assigned by the Employment Services Coordinator as part of their professional development:

  • Assists with intakes
  • Observes and learns to provide other supported employment services such as situational assessments, job-site training, and follow-along
  • Participates in annual planning meetings, SIS assessments, DARS meetings

Position Type 

This is a part-time position. This position involves participation in community-based instruction and working with adult participants who have the potential to exhibit disruptive and/or challenging behavior.

Requirements

  

Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) Certification required
  • Experience working with individuals with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Experience providing employment or community-based services is preferred
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekends for Employment Services[LH1] 
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Access to approved personal vehicle for transporting individuals to and from employment as needed
