Position Summary: 

The Utility Lead is responsible for coordinating activities among workers in packaging.  The position is responsible for the packaging of fire log products.  Packaging line workers are required to work several different positions on the packaging line, such as: packing, stacking, inspection, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

• Coordinates activities of workers engaged in packaging products and materials for storage or shipment.
• Studies production order to ascertain type and quantity of product, containers to be used, and other packaging requirements.
• Inspects products prior to packaging and returns rejected products to production departments.
• Starts, adjusts, and repairs packaging machinery/notifies maintenance department.
• Trains workers in operation of equipment.
• Coordinates break schedules for team members.
• Monitor job performance to ensure all centerlines are met.
• Set up and clean up for the packaging area.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Ability to troubleshoot and operate all positions within area.
• Ability to identify quality defects and source of defects.
• Ability to train new utility operators.
• Ability to complete packaging changeovers.
• Ability to operate multiple lines.
• Ability to complete FROI and do RCA along with Supervisor.
• Ability to Train B Operators on necessary pre-shift setup and how to perform PMs for necessary equipment.
• Standing for long periods of time.
• May involve repetitive movements.
• Lifting up to 60 lbs.
• Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling as necessary.
• Due to the open environment of the packaging area, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions.
