The Songwriting & Expressive Arts instructor role is designed for an educator-artist who thrives at the intersection of music, creativity, and personal growth. The instructor will guide students through the art of songwriting, performance, and expressive practices that promote self-discovery, collaboration, and confidence.
- Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that integrate songwriting, stage presence, and mediation, fostering both artistic and personal expression.
- Lead students in creative exercises and interactive activities that build technical skills in songwriting and performance while deepening self-awareness.
- Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages peer connection, artistic exploration, and confidence-building.
- Empower students to express themselves authentically, supporting both personal and artistic growth through music and the expressive arts.
- Serve as a mentor and facilitator, helping students develop their voices, embrace their creativity, and build meaningful connections through the arts.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience. Benefits are not provided for this role.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Department of Education and Community Programs - Manager and Associate Manager
Requirements
- Strong background in songwriting, music performance, and/or expressive arts.
- Experience teaching or mentoring youth in creative and educational settings.
- Ability to foster an inclusive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and facilitation skills.
- Passion for using the arts as a tool for empowerment and personal growth.
