PureView Health Center has career opportunities for a Full-time, Community Health Worker/Peer Support Specialist. This opportunity, located in Helena, Montana is within the Behavioral Health department and reports to the Director of Behavioral Health and Licensed Addiction Counselor/Program Supervisor.

The Opportunity 

Responsibilities of this career opportunity include a blended position of Community Health Worker (CHW) and Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist (CBHPSS) supporting PureView Health Center’s Healthcare for the Homeless Program. The CHW is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community served. This trust enables the CHW to serve as a liaison between health/social services and the community to facilitate access, improve cultural competence of service delivery, and build individual/community capacity. The Peer Support Specialist uses lived experience in recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders to provide mentorship, encouragement, and hope, helping patients engage with treatment, housing services, and wellness activities. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Certification: 
    • Must possess or obtain within 6 months: 
    • Montana State certification as a Community Health Worker (CHW) 
    • Montana certification as a Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist (CBHPSS) 
  • Other: 
  • Valid Montana driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and ability to travel within Lewis and Clark County (including Lincoln and surrounding areas) 
  • Personal history of long-term stable recovery and willingness to self-identify as a peer in recovery 
  • Commitment to maintaining ethical standards under Montana CBHPSS Code of Ethics
