The Executive Director of Engineering provides strategic leadership for all engineering and facilities operations at the site level, ensuring seamless alignment with enterprise objectives and long-term business strategy. As a key member of the Site Senior Leadership Team, this role plays a critical part in shaping the site's operational excellence and growth trajectory within the CDMO sector.
This executive will oversee all technical operations, ensuring rigorous compliance with cGMP, EHS, and quality standards, while championing a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and fiscal discipline. Responsibilities include leading complex capital investment programs, optimizing infrastructure and facility design to support evolving business needs, and proactively partnering with senior corporate leadership to drive strategic initiatives and operational scalability.
- Provide visionary leadership across the technical operations function, delivering strategic guidance and cross-functional alignment to support corporate objectives and long-term growth.
- Drive a culture of excellence by ensuring full compliance with all applicable cGMP, safety, environmental, health, and quality regulations.
- Lead the execution of operational and financial strategies to meet performance goals, optimize efficiency, and support EBITDA growth.
- Oversee all capital planning and facility development initiatives, ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Continuously assess and optimize the operational footprint to enhance agility, mitigate revenue volatility, and strengthen cost performance.
- Partner with executive leadership to analyze market trends and position the organization to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Foster open, solution-oriented communication across functional teams, promoting clarity, collaboration, and accountability.
- Champion the company’s strategic vision within the operations team, inspiring engagement, reinforcing alignment, and driving high-impact execution across all levels of the organization
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven executive leadership experience with the business acumen, strategic mindset, and operational excellence required to lead a complex technical function or division.
- Minimum of 10 years in senior management roles within the API or fine chemicals industry, including oversight of multi-site manufacturing operations in highly regulated, chemistry-intensive environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required; an advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) is strongly preferred.
- Deep experience navigating dynamic production settings involving frequent changeovers, small-batch manufacturing, and sophisticated, high-specification customer requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in capital project planning and execution; familiarity with large-scale construction projects considered a significant asset.
- In-depth understanding of FDA regulations and pharmaceutical quality systems, with a strong track record of driving compliance and quality excellence in a cGMP environment.
