Summary/Objective
The Clinical Coordinator provides leadership for the unit accountability and responsibility for clinical operations ensuring that efficient and effective nursing care is provided to individuals and families in the department. The Clinical Coordinator makes decisions independently and in collaboration with the Director to promote the attainment of hospital goals in accordance with its mission.

- Utilizes a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed, nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, making nursing diagnoses that serve as the basis for the strategy of care, developing a plan of care based on the assessment and nursing diagnosis, implementing nursing care, and evaluating the patient's responses to nursing interventions.
- Make assignments to others that take into consideration patient safety and that are commensurate with the educational preparation, experience, knowledge, and physical and emotional ability of the person to whom the assignments are made. Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Know the rationale for and the effects of medications and treatments and shall correctly administer the same. Implement measures to promote a safe environment for patients and others. Maintains personal and staff awareness of current developments, evidence based practice and trends in nursing research with a focus on the specific patient population in which they are employed.
- Maintains required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards, and ensures quality of care is maintained through Performance Improvement activities.
- Supervises activities of department(s) and promotes achievement of departmental/hospital objectives and ensures staff accountability by managing staff performance through rewards, recognition, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action, in collaboration with the Director.
- Displays sound fiscal judgment and control of department as evidenced by achieving budget targets, including but not limited to, hour/stat and cost/stat.
Required Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
3 - 5 years related experience
Required License/Certifications
Current RN license in the State of Texas
BLS certification
Unit specific competencies obtained within six months of hire or date of transfer
