About the Department
Position Duties
- Assist with day-to-day activities in providing support to residents, nursing assistants, environmental services, dining, and activities teams to provide high quality care.
- Assist with serving meals, snacks, and fluids (not providing cares).
- Ensure rooms are cleaned, organized, and sanitized.
- Assist housekeeping and nursing staff with preparing rooms for new admissions.
- Make beds—ensure resident call lights are easily accessible.
- Stock resident rooms.
- Answer call lights, serve residents and report to qualified staff if necessary.
- May transport residents (to and from meals, activities) per community/state regulations.
- Assist with the cleanup after meal service.
- Complete daily tasks as assigned.
- May perform other varied duties/assignments per facility needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent experience preferred.
- Current Wisconsin certificate as a Nursing Assistant including annual 12 hour educational requirement.
- Ability to handle crisis intervention situations as directed by individualized care plan, facility protocol, resident rights, etc.
- Basic level of computer proficiency required.
- Functional understanding of medical terminology.
- Understands and effectively carries out oral and written instructions.
- Understands and promotes the concept of comprehensive individualized nursing care for a diversified population.
Other Qualifications
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Specific hearing abilities required by this job include, hearing conversation in noisy and quiet environments, locating a sound source and differentiating among non-speech sounds, communicating through speech.
Ability to adapt to changes in daily work hour and schedule.
Initiate timely emergency resuscitation measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols.
Risk of bloodborne pathogen exposure is considered high.
