- Ensure simulation activities incorporate INACSL standards for:
- Simulation Design
- Outcomes & Objectives
- Facilitation
- Pre-briefing & Debriefing
- Professional Integrity
- Simulation-Enhanced Interprofessional Education (as applicable)
- Evaluation
- Create a psychologically safe learning environment that promotes student engagement and reflective practice.
- Develop and maintain a library of standardized scenarios, including associated documentation, assessment rubrics, and debriefing guides.
Simulation Center Management
- Oversee the scheduling, preparation, and delivery of simulation experiences, including clinical skill labs and high-fidelity simulations.
- Maintain and inventory simulation equipment and supplies; coordinate maintenance and repairs with vendors.
- Operate and troubleshoot simulation technology, including manikins, task trainers, AV systems, and simulation management software.
Faculty Support & Collaboration
- Serve as a resource and coach for all faculty in simulation design and facilitation, helping integrate simulation across courses.
- Provide faculty development on best practices in simulation education, including effective debriefing models (e.g., DML, PEARLS).
- Collaborate with course coordinators to align simulation content with didactic and clinical instruction and desired student outcomes.
- In addition to pre-licensure simulation duties, collaborate as needed with all nursing programs such as Family Nurse Practitioner or RN-
- BSN for skills practice and check-offs.
- Actively participates in Department of Nursing faculty meetings and on select departmental, College and University committees
Student Learning & Evaluation
- Facilitate formative and summative simulation experiences to assess clinical reasoning, communication, and safe nursing practice.
- Ensure appropriate use of validated assessment tools and methods consistent with INACSL's Evaluation standard.
- Provide feedback to students that is timely, constructive, and aligned with learning objectives.
- Provide student advisement, holds weekly office hours and counsel student advisees as needed
Program Improvement & Innovation
- Lead continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts for the simulation program by analyzing data and student performance outcomes.
- Conduct needs assessments and use outcome data to inform changes in simulation design and delivery.
- Participate in simulation-related scholarship, research, and/or presentations at professional conferences.
