Middle School Assistant Principal

 

The Middle School Assistant Principal is a dynamic and visionary educational leader dedicated to fostering academic excellence, a positive school culture, and the holistic development of students. This individual will work collaboratively with the principal, teachers, staff, students, and the community to implement the school’s vision, mission, and goals. The Assistant Principal is responsible for supporting instructional leadership, student discipline, staff development, and operational management to ensure a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment.

 

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: Middle School Principal

Direct Reports: Middle School Teachers and Middle School Support Staff.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, exempt, 12-month position. Salary range is $96,756 - $140,297 annually, dependent upon education and experience. The school participates in the Colorado Public Schools Retirement System PERA.

 

Essential Functions:

Instructional Leadership

  • Collaborate with the principal to monitor and enhance instructional programs, ensuring alignment with district, state, and national standards.
  • Monitor Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and analyze data related to MAPS, CMAS, and WIDA Writing performance to identify trends and inform instruction.
  • Conduct quality walk-throughs and formal classroom observations, providing constructive and meaningful feedback to teachers and paraprofessionals.
  • Evaluate and monitor teacher performance and professional goals, offering tailored feedback to support their growth.
  • Design and implement professional development opportunities aligned with staff needs to support student achievement.

Student Development and Behavior Management

  • Develop and implement a student behavior management plan that promotes equity, respect, and accountability.
  • Address disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner, maintaining a focus on restorative practices.
  • Take full responsibility for disciplinary issues, including assigning disciplinary action, meeting with parents, and coordinating reentry meetings. This includes:
  • Completing and submitting Notices of Suspension with parent signatures or emailed PDFs on the same day of the incident.
  • Ensuring accurate entry into Infinite Campus, including appropriate resolutions, updated attendance, and timely records management.
  • Conducting reentry meetings in a restorative and professional manner.
  • Ensure all incidents are documented and filed before the end of the day to maintain up-to-date records for the following school day.

Safety Support

  • Monitor Safe2Tell Reports, Go Guardian and Beacon Reports
  • Routinely inspects school facilities, including hallways, restrooms, classrooms and special areas. Monitors hallways during every passing period.
  • Monitor, maintain, create and consistently review all safety plans, threat assessments and suicide risk assessments.
  • Schedule and support re-entry meetings
  • Assists administrative team, Safety Team and/or School Resource Officer with overall supervision and safety of students in the buildings and on the grounds before and after school and during lunch. 
  • Assists teachers and staff in maintaining a safe classroom learning environment by providing intervention tactics and supportive tools to classroom teachers and utilizing counseling, restorative relationship repair strategies and monitoring of student needed tools to maintain a productive respectful student in the classroom in the future.
  • Assists administrative team and safety team in conducting drills and safety reunifications and supports
  • Supervises the in-school suspension and restorative justice program. Assigns students to restorative practices, In School Suspension and provides direction and guidance.
  • Coordinates, leads and assists the Middle School Administrative team with security and supervision needs for Pinnacle sponsored events such as dances, rallies, award ceremonies, continuation ceremony, celebrations, etc.

Staff and Community Engagement

  • Foster a positive and collaborative school culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to enhance student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the principal in hiring, mentoring, and retaining high-quality staff.
  • Act as a liaison between school and community organizations to support extracurricular and co-curricular activities.

Operational and Administrative Support

  • Assist in the development and management of school budgets and resource allocation.
  • Utilize effective time management strategies, such as time blocking, to ensure timely and efficient work.
  • Work collaboratively with office staff, colleagues, and the principal to ensure accurate and effective operational workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, state and federal regulations, and school safety protocols.
  • Oversee the organization and implementation of school events, testing schedules, and daily operations.
  • Attend meetings with administrators, department leads, counselors and directors as assigned.
  • Monitor and assess attendance records and maintain accuracy for testing, field trips, excused absences and suspensions.
  • Monitor student progress, MTSS student tracking, IEP and 504 plans alongside the administrative team.
  • Assist with substitute classroom management and coverage as needed.
  • Attend and participate in the Climate and Culture Committee meetings and events such as STEAM Night and any Raise the Pack events as assigned.
  • Organizes and coordinates supervision of game administrative duties as needed.

 

Education, License(s), and Experience:

  • Must possess a valid Colorado Principal License or be able to obtain one within (6) months of hire.
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience required, preferably at the Middle School level.

Working Conditions:

Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.  Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.

Mental Functions: Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.

Physical Activities: Office environment including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.

Weight and Force Demands: Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).

Other: May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
