Primary Function
The Testing Engineer is responsible for performing engineering-level testing and validation of television products to ensure they meet quality, safety, and performance standards. This role involves developing and executing test plans, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve product issues. The Testing Engineer also supports production builds, develops test fixtures, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions
Testing & Validation (40%)
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans covering functional, reliability, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Set up and operate specialized test equipment to evaluate TV hardware and software performance.
- Record, analyze, and interpret test data to identify defects, performance issues, or improvement areas.
- Generate detailed test reports and share actionable feedback with design, production, and quality teams.
- Ensure all testing aligns with industry standards (IEC, UL, ISTA) and internal requirements.
Test Fixture & Equipment Development (15%)
- Design, build, and maintain test jigs, fixtures, and special wiring needed for validation.
- Recommend improvements in test methods, tools, and processes for better accuracy and efficiency.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot testing instruments to ensure reliable operation.
Production Support & New Model Introduction (20%)
- Support production teams during engineering runs and initial builds by validating TV performance.
- Collaborate with design engineers and vendors to resolve issues identified during testing or production.
- Document test procedures and train technicians and junior engineers on proper execution.
- Develop updated test protocols to support model changes and validate implementation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement (25%)
- Partner with R&D, Quality, and ODM teams to perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions.
- Assist with the qualification of new components, materials, and processes.
- Communicate results and recommendations clearly across departments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing test efficiency, accuracy, and overall product quality.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
- Solid understanding of electronics fundamentals and ability to read circuit diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with test instruments (multimeters, power analyzers, color analyzers, signal generators).
- Familiarity with TV systems (display, audio, video, connectivity, firmware/software).
- Proficiency with MS Office; experience with data acquisition or test automation software is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills.
- Mandarin language ability preferred but not required.
