Community Faculty Preceptor – OBGYN

Join the MAHEC OBGYN Residency program dedicated to cultivating the next generation of physicians. We are committed to providing comprehensive training, grounded in evidence-based practices that emphasizes community engagement and patient-centered care.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mentor and supervise residents at the MAHEC OBGYN – Biltmore outpatient clinical setting
  • Provide educational instruction, evaluations, and feedback to enhance residents’ clinical skills
  • Provide direct clinical supervision and oversight to Residents in the Outpatient setting
  • Provide supervision for common OBGYN office procedures

ADMINISTRATIVE:

  • Work with departmental staff and administration to attain the strategic objectives of MAHEC, including patient safety, patient and other customer satisfaction, maintenance and enhancement of public perception, and fiscal health
  • Participate, based on experience/skills, on committees and work groups as appropriate within the department and within MAHEC.

This role description is a general description of the essential job functions.  It is not intended to describe all the duties of a Physician. Adjustment of responsibilities and performance reviews will be discussed with and determined by the Chair of the Department of OBGYN.

Must be able to understand partner needs and develop plans to mitigate challenges.  Resolves concerns quickly and effectively, and establishes and preserves trust in relationships with external partners.
  • Communication – Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to patients required. Ability to effectively present information in group situations and respond to questions from individuals and groups required.
  • Analyze – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, legal documents, or governmental regulations required. 
  • Documentation – Ability to document medical information into patient records/charts required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of an OBGYN Residency Program. 
  • Board-certified in OBGYN
  • Clinical teaching and mentoring experience preferred.
  • Passion for community health and resident education

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Licensure to practice medicine in North Carolina.
  • Certification by the American Board of OBGYN Physicians

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Experience using Electronic Medical Records preferred.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Spanish speaking skills preferred.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to the Chair, Department of OBGYN.
