Job Description: Leads and oversees programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supervises program coordinators, ensures compliance with regulations, manages budgets, and serves as the organization’s IDD expert.
Role and Responsibilities
- Plans, develops and directs programs within the region specific to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Provides direct supervision to Adult Day Training Coordinator, Another Man’s Treasure Coordinator, IDD Case Management, IDD Residential Coordinator, Transportation Coordinator and Medication Specialist.
- Serves as the IDD expert in the organization.
- Participates in the Executive Leadership team and is instrumental in assuring IDD program, staff and client needs are considered and addressed in the agency. In addition, develops and supports an interface and integration of IDD services into the overall strategic plan of the organization.
- Responsible for reviewing staffing patterns and vacancies to ensure there is adequate and appropriately trained staff available to provide services.
- Ensures that all IDD services provided meet state standards and guidelines. Serve as contact person for Supports for Community Living, Michelle P., State General Funds and Crisis Services.
- Is knowledgeable and understands state and federal program requirements and ensures that all IDD services meet state standards and guidelines including licensing requirements.
- Responsible for reviewing Annual Plan and Budget requirements, quarterly reporting, and completion of all required documentation for IDD Services within the timeframe allowed by the state.
- Responsible for collaborating with the CEO/CFO in developing department budgets. Regularly reviews department budget to assure compliance and works to correct deficits or fiscal deficiencies including making recommendations to CEO regarding programs.
- Active involvement in the community and make presentations to civic groups and other public forums on IDD issues.
- Administrative tasks to include monitoring program budget, attendance at area and state meetings, completion of required reports and program paperwork and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Master’s degree in human service, special education, or other applicable field with five years’ administrative experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with significant experience may be considered in lieu of Master’s degree.
Supervisory Requirements
- Prefer 5 years previous supervisory experience at a program director level
Special Requirements
- Preferably a resident of the five-county area.
- Satisfactory criminal records background check.
- Ability to present and represent the IDD programs to the public.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Willing to travel out of the region for meetings and trainings.
