Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a DyCoN Lab Research Specialist - Boca Raton, FL.
The DyCoN Lab Research Specialist will support the research activities of the Dynamical Computational Neuroscience (DyCoN) lab at Florida Atlantic University. The lab (located on the Boca Raton campus of FAU) focuses on understanding the neural systems behind human learning and performance, with the goal of developing paradigms to improve both human and AI capabilities. The lab uses computational models, neuroimaging (fMRI and MRS), behavioral experiments, and collaborations with animal researchers to uncover the neural circuit dynamics of learning and behavior in the brain. Current research themes include the role of task-specific sensory modulation on performance, how task-specific connections can improve AI models, and improving human performance in complex tasks using virtual reality environments. This is a 2-year funded position, with the possibility of extension based on future funding availability. The DyCoN Lab Research Specialist will work closely with the PI and lab members to conduct behavioral and neuroimaging experiments, manage data collection, and maintain research documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the execution of research studies and assisting in the coordination of lab activities.
- Assisting in the design and execution of behavioral and neuroimaging experiments related to human learning and performance.
- Collecting, organizing, and maintaining high-quality research data suitable for publication and grant applications.
- Ensuring compliance with university research policies and safety protocols.
- Supporting onboarding, training, and oversight of undergraduate research assistants.
- Maintaining records of research activities, training, and equipment usage.
- Participating in lab meetings and contributing to discussions on experimental progress and planning.
- May assist in preparing figures, summaries, and documentation for manuscripts and grant proposals.
- May assist in development and testing of AI models depending on experience.
- May assist in developing project ideas depending on experience and interest.
- Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of the lab.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and five (5) years of appropriate experience required; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and (2) two years of appropriate experience required.Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, cognitive science, psychology, computer science, or a related field.
Experience with functional magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, virtual reality, behavioral experiments, or programming AI models.
Salary:
$35,704 - $70,000.AMP
