Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starting Software Development Engineer to work on a multi-asset class trading system. Responsibilities include development of order routing, trade matching and processing, real-time market data, API's and protocols as well as analysis of user requirements, documentation, testing, and application support.
Role Responsibilities
Build high-performance, scalable, robust server applications
Work very closely with development groups, business liaison teams, operations staff, quality assurance teams, IT security group and server administration groups on various activities related to application integration and system enhancements
Participate in application architecture and design review
Participate in development, testing, implementation, and support of various enhancements to the systems, services and technologies
Produce functional application documentation
Provide third level support on application integration issues
Experience / Competences
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in science and/or engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in programming and systems analysis
Minimum of 2 years of experience using the FIX Protocol
Proven software development experience in the Financial Industry
Ability to work well with others in a team-based environment
Experience in a fast-paced financial market data environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
High motivation level and attention to detail
Ability to complete projects on time with minimal supervision
Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and tools
Experience with Financial products
Strong technical knowledge of C/C++ and UNIX/Linux
Recent experience with FIX Protocol and the Quick FIX Engine
Good technical knowledge of SQL, TCP/IP programming, inter-process communication and network architectures/protocols
Technical knowledge of scripting languages (PERL, C-Shell, etc.)
Experience with Version Control tools (Git, CVS, etc…)
Experience in both UNIX/Linux and Windows environments
Strong problem detection, troubleshooting skills and analytical abilities
Experience with messaging platforms/APIs (Solace, RMDS, Tibco, etc…)
Desired
Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for scalable application deployment
