POSITION:  Part-Time Strength and Performance Coach
LOCATION:  Kenowa Hills High School

SCHEDULE:  Up to Four (4) Hours per day (20 hours per week) during the school year; Hours TBD but could include mornings, evenings and possibly weekends
HOURLY RATE: $30 per hour

REPORTS TO: Full-time Strength & Performance Coach
SUPERVISED BY: High School Athletic Director

SUMMARY: Be an extension of the full-time Strength and Performance Coach, providing a comprehensive Strength and Performance Training Program for KHPS athletes and athletic teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in strength/athletic performance related field or NSCA or CSCS Certification required (or in pursuit with expected completion date) .
  • Required knowledge of skills and demonstrated abilities related to diversity, equity, and cultural competence.
  • Knowledge of own competence in the area of diversity and equity, how this influences own behavior and a desire to learn about others identities. 

PROGRAM VISION:

  • Support the culture of strength and conditioning at KHPS.
  • Reduce and prevent injuries to promote healthy athletes.
  • Improve long-term athletic development.
  • Improve performance to gain competitiveness.
  • Improve confidence and health through changes in body composition and increased physical literacy.
  • Develop, structure, and facilitate performance classes as an integral part of the program.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide scheduling, develop programming, monitor team and player attendance/participation, and convey/support the vision/direction of the program in cooperation with all athletic coaches. 
  • Exude passion for developing the whole athlete in support of social, mental, and physical wellness.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm in every session with student athletes.
  • Create a culture where athletes want to participate.
  • Grow the Strength and Performance Program through recruitment of students. 
  • Strive to make the program better by keeping in step with industry trends and developments.
  • Support coaches in providing pre, post, and in-season Strength and Conditioning programming.
  • Maximize current spaces and equipment, prioritize needs, advocate necessities, and be resourceful in finding ways to add equipment that will enhance the program.
  • Maintain regular communications with the full-time strength and performance coach and certified athletic trainer about injured athletes and rehab recommendations/accommodations.
