Description of Position:
The Nursing Support Specialist is responsible for supporting nursing and prescribing staff through administrative and clinical tasks that ensure smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a healthcare setting.
Position Details:
Full-time: 40 hours per week
Shift: Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm
Pay Range: $17 - $18 per hour
Job Knowledge and Comprehension:
- Conduct genetic testing procedures as directed by prescribing staff.
- Ensure releases are signed and records from other providers are in client file as requested by prescribing staff.
- Submit and follow up on prior authorizations with insurance companies.
- Return client messages in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare prescriber letters for clients.
- Schedule and coordinate drug representative lunches.
- Occasionally take and record client vitals in medical records.
- Perform other related support tasks as needed.
Work Quality and Accuracy:
- Maintains accurate documentation and records. Collecting, compiling, and evaluating data and ensuring that paperwork is submitted in a timely manner.
- Maintains standards of confidentiality and ethical practice.
- Uses effective, sensitive communication skills to build rapport and channels of communication by recognizing and adapting to the range of people’s communication styles.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
- Background in healthcare or certification as a Med Tech or related field
- Experience working in a medical or behavioral health setting
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR)
The Board of Directors of the Human Service Agency shall have the prerogative to hire staff whose qualifications may vary from the above. This position requires access to Electronic Personal Health Information (EPHI). Current HSA Policies and Procedures apply. It is the responsibility of the employee to read, understand, and comply with HSA policies and procedures that apply to protected information and security.
