About the Role

As a Safety Engineer Intern at Wheatland Tube (a division of Zekelman Industries), you will gain hands-on experience supporting safety initiatives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will contribute to our strong safety culture by assisting with audits, data analysis, training coordination, and compliance projects.

This internship is designed to help you build a solid foundation for a career in the health and safety field, working alongside professionals who prioritize safety and care deeply about building a safer workplace.

This is a full-time, on-site internship based at our Wheatland, PA facility.

The official Zekelman internship program runs from May 26, 2026, through August 14, 2026.

This role is perfect for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about making a tangible impact on workplace safety.

What You’ll Do

  • Support facility safety culture and improvement initiatives through assigned projects
  • Assist in conducting safety audits and inspections with experienced safety professionals
  • Collect and analyze safety data (incidents, near misses, performance metrics) to support reporting and recommendations
  • Help coordinate and deliver safety training programs; organize training materials and track participation
  • Maintain and update safety policies, records, and compliance documentation
  • Assist in incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Support development and testing of emergency response plans
  • Contribute to safety communications and awareness campaigns
  • Stay informed about industry regulations, best practices, and trends to recommend improvements
  • Promote healthy and safe work practices in line with Zekelman policies and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Who You Are

  • Pursuing a degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
  • Knowledge of U.S. health and safety regulations (OSHA standards, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with strong organizational abilities
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in team settings
  • Available to travel for the Internship Summit, hosted at a Zekelman Industries location
  • This role is only open to candidates who are permanently authorized to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship now or in the future.
