About us:
About the program:
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
About the role:
Using an Agile DevSecOps delivery model and collaborative operating environment, AIR6500 is shaping the future of Defence capability in Australia.
As the Software Configuration & Release Lead, you will take responsibility for the discipline of software configuration management across the program. This includes establishing best practice processes for version control, branch management, build and release management, change tracking, and configuration auditing. You will play a critical role in ensuring software builds are controlled, tested, and successfully deployed through the lifecycle — from integration and verification through to delivery.
About you:
- Significant experience with version control and repository management tools (e.g. GitLab, Nexus).
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile software development.
- (Desirable) Ability to define and improve build and release management processes.
- (Desirable) Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and containerisation/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide technical teams and influence stakeholders.
- Eligible for an Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in software configuration and release management on one of Australia’s most important Defence programs. You will directly contribute to delivering a mission-critical capability while shaping the standards and practices for software management across the AIR6500 program.
