About the role:
In your role as an Analyst, you will be assisting the Vice President and Head of Sustainable Finance (Oceania) in promoting Sustainable Finance (SF) in Oceania, including on the origination and structuring of SF transactions. This will involve working with various sector teams and product areas to develop and market SF products including loans and bonds to clients of MUFG.
The Sustainable Finance Team forms part of the Global Corporate and Investment Banking Division in Oceania and works with clients across Australia and New Zealand.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support origination and execution of SF transactions and drive new product development in conjunction with the VP and Head of SF (Oceania) across various sectors and structures
- Provide high-quality research and insights on ESG and SF trends; stay up to date with market developments and regulatory shifts
- Support execution activities related to ESG approvals in alignment with the regional ESG validation framework
- Develop marketing materials that reflect the bank’s strategic ESG and SF positioning
- Embed a strong risk mindset in structuring transactions to ensure alignment with recognized sustainable finance standards (e.g. Green Loan Principles, Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles, Climate Bonds Initiative)
- Manage greenwashing risk by ensuring credibility, transparency, and integrity in all SF structures
- Drive internal collaboration with product teams, global research, and regional SF teams to provide clients with comprehensive ESG insights
- Promote ESG and SF externally through active participation in networking events, client meetings
What we are looking for:
- 2+ years’ experience in financial services or Sustainable Finance / ESG related role
- Undergraduate degree
- Strong research and analytic skills
- Ability to build personal networks
- Numerical, Excel spreadsheet, research and analytical skills
- An understanding of financial and economic markets
- Be able to engage in independent research and analysis of customers and markets and apply critical thinking and a high level of attention to detail
- The ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally
- Strong interpersonal and presentations skills
- A team player
- A self-starter who applies initiative and has drive and enthusiasm
- An analytical mindset and problem solving skills
- The ability to work independently and prioritise a number of tasks across various work streams and alongside multiple stakeholders
