An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Business Partner (Grade B) supporting the New Build & Components (NB&C) Delivery Business Unit (DBU) of the Rolls-Royce Submarines (RRSL) business, based in Derby.
The RRSL business is embarking on a remarkable period of growth, both in existing markets and in new ventures. The NB&C DBU delivers and supports critical activities to support the Royal Navy.
The New Build & Components (NB&C) business unit is responsible for Component Delivery, Engineering and for our integration with the shipbuilder in Barrow in Furness through our site-based teams. The focus for NB&C is on - delivering our remaining Astute platforms to sea, Dreadnought – the UK’s top defence priority and most important programme in a generation and preparing for new product introduction and facility expansion programmes for SSN-AUKUS.
These critical activities and deliveries are key to delivering our commitments to the Customer – ensuring we deliver on time, on cost and safely.
What you will be doing
Working with Delivery Business Units (“DBUs“) Senior Management Team to ensure that business meets/beats the financial commitments. Identifying drivers and connections of the DBUs business performance
Working with the DBUs in the development of the DBU strategy producing business plans/cases as required
Owning key financial relationship with Submarines Alliance as part of the Dreadnought Programme
Producing business forecasts that are balanced, challenging and supported by coherent assumptions
Ensuring contract reviews meet governance requirements and challenge business performance
Regular interface with Customer through provision of MoD spend forecasts, agreement of payment plans – forecast and actuals and other performance reviews
Provision of cost justification to MoD Auditors and liaise with statutory auditors
Responsibility for DBU’s individual and consolidated Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet control and fidelity
Senior member of the finance function in Subs and providing a leadership role in both the finance area and the DBU’s 1st lines
Promotion of financial awareness within the business and Lead, engage and develop direct report(s)
Develop a continuous improvement culture within the business, championing compliance and the sustainment of good quality data.
Actively support the HSE policies and be responsible for the H&S of all people within their area (including visitors and contractors)

To be successful in this role, you will need to:
Be a qualified accountant with proven experience and time served in a financial leadership role.
Have experience with long-term contract accounting (IFRS 15), understanding complex financial arrangements and their implications.
Demonstrate a strong commercial mindset, using financial insight to drive business performance and strategic decision-making.
Be an effective leader, with proven experience in managing and guiding teams at a senior level. Have demonstrated the ability to both set and manage to a budget and forecast
It is desirable, but not essential, that you have knowledge or experience with:
Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR) and their application within government contracts.
IFRS 16 and the key principals of finance lease accounting
Please be aware that the priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.
