Manufacturing Technician
The Manufacturing Technician coordinates and leads production activities to include building assemblies and components, executing work orders, and managing inventory via the cycle counting process. The Manufacturing Technician performs all assembly activities required to meet production and project schedules for the organization. This person is expected to work autonomously, an outcome of high technical and business competencies.
Essential Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Builds and configures precision optical, electrical and mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, calibration kits, industrial computers and components
- Tests completed machines, major components, subassemblies, calibration kits, computers and components as defined by issued procedures
- Responsible for weekly cycle counting process. This will include reporting results on a monthly basis
- Create/adapt inventory locations to allow storage flexibility for changing volumes
- Develop and implement process improvements for QED manufacturing activities
- Configure/program replacement electrical components
- Collaboration with manufacturing engineering team to improve manufacturing processes.
- Interaction with QED’s quality team and suppliers to identify and resolve part non-conformances.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Experience with Planning/Scheduling activities in a manufacturing environment working with an integrated business system software package is preferred
- The ability to use common assembly hand tools, jigs, fixtures, etc. is required
- Ability to read assembly drawings, assembly procedures, test plans, quality assurance documents and wiring diagrams is required
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Experience with of ERP/MRP software systems, logistics, inventory control, BOM structure, and supply chain management preferred
- Associates degree in business or technical field, and a minimum of three to five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required
