The Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting employee benefits programs for a workforce of approximately 5,600 employees across multiple plant and field locations. This role ensures accurate enrollment, compliance with applicable laws and company policies, and serves as a resource for employees with benefits-related questions or concerns. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and is comfortable working with a diverse, multilingual workforce.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS ::- Review and process enrollment forms for new hires and life event changes, including contacting work sites for clarification or corrections as needed.
- Accurately enter employee benefit elections into the HRIS system.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers to ensure correct and timely data transmission.
- Process Medical Support Notices.
- Promote employee understanding and utilization of benefit plans through education and communication, including coordination of quarterly, annual, and open enrollment meetings.
- Assist employees with insurance claim issues and provide guidance on effective use of their benefit options.
- Audit benefits data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain Leave of Absence (LOA) records for all sites, including tracking employee-submitted benefit payments.
- Conduct research and analyze benefit-related data to provide statistical reports and insights to management.
- Support employees during the open enrollment period by helping them understand and select the best benefits options.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as internal policies, related to employee benefits.
- Maintain an adequate supply of New Hire benefit guides across all sites.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field (preferred)
- 2 years of Employee Benefit experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Time management and organizational skills
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt a practical course of action
Travel Required:
- Minimal travel required, except during open enrollment, when travel will be required
