The Unit Manager will oversee our Home Care, Continuing, and Long-Term Care. The position plays a key role in safe and timely patient care and outcomes by ensuring that clinical practice reflects the most current, evidence-based techniques and standards. The Unit Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations, including direct supervision of unit staff. This role interacts daily with physicians, nursing staff, other unit staff, and interdisciplinary teams, providing clinical support to patient/resident care by exception.We seek an individual with a proven track record in developing programs that support organizational goals, can make ethical decisions, and offer result-oriented recommendations. You will foster an engaging environment while enhancing employee development and growth. This role will also lead/monitor program planning & performance, support change, and drive continuous improvement.Your experience as a nurse with a background in home and continuing/long-term care will help shape the direction of our La Crete facility and other operational areas. The Unit Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the unit including direct supervision of staff. This role demonstrates role modeling of COV’s Mission, Vision and Values in daily interactions with staff/ patients/ residents/families. The position facilitates and fosters interdisciplinary participation in patient care activities and coaches, mentors, motivates and empowers clinical staff. The Unit Manager creates a climate of interdepartmental respect and collaboration, and administers the applicable Collective Agreements for areas of responsibility. The responsibilities of this position are focused around four critical aspects of care and service: People and teams. Access and flow. Quality and safety. Efficiency and resources. The Manager, In conjunction with CNE (and program manager as needed), addresses learning needs of staff, Monitors staff development and holds frequent development discussions; Is responsible for hiring unit/department staff while considering every vacancy as an opportunity for change in care delivery; Supports unit and/or organizational change by raising awareness through communication. To minimize negative outcomes, the Unit Manager must possess considerable clinical knowledge, skill level and leadership abilities relevant to the operating room of responsibility.
