Job Overview:

Reporting to the Assembly Manager, the Assembly Intern provides the best possible support by assisting with all aspects of factory planning and engineering and helps to ensure that the ongoing plant expansion project runs smoothly. 

 
Responsibilities:
  • Operation Excellence: Support and Optimization of Mercedes-Benz asset care system to global standards and best practice
  • Profitable growth: Audit of SAP iPro PMs and function locations for as built
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Tracking of Shop Floor Management scorecard and data quality
  • CI Projects: Work with group leaders and maintenance technicians to improve maintenance process through Kaizen projects
  • Run projects supporting green production goals using existing Mercedes-Benz data streams
  • Support Automation & control technicians with Red lining of E-Plan schematics
  • Support Maintenance and planner in insuring documentation is organized and to the integra standard
  • Attend team meetings and track maintenance performance KPIs
  • Drives and implements cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high quality standards
  • Supports Automation & controls technicians in troubleshooting complex PLC- equipment problems
  • Create and/or update PBs & AA's
     

 


Qualifications:
Having graduated within the past 12 months or currently working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Business or relevant degree is required to participate in the intern program.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in University or in a gap year between Bachelor's and Master’s degree in relevant fields including Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering

  • A minimum of 3 semesters of studies in relevant field of study

  • Available for a minimum of 3 months, prefer availability for a maximum of 6 months

     

  • Electrical system monitoring

  • 3 phase power systems

  • Automation system analysis

  • IT Networking            

  • Energy studies

  • Controls logic 

  • Read and create blueprints and schematics

     

     

    Additional details:

  • Hourly pay rate of $20.00hr for our internship program

  • MBV does not offer assisted living or a relocation package for this assignment

  • This is an onsite position

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.

 

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC invested 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a new Sprinter production plant in addition to an expansion of the previous assembly operations. In September 2018, MBV officially opened its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and is expected to create at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers.

 

More than 130,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
