The Finance Director - O2S is a strategic partner in building, scaling, and overseeing the financial operations of McCarthy’s newly centralized project support organization. Their core focus is supporting the O2S’s margin expansion, asset management, and financial efficiency as it delivers services across five pillars: Equipment, Procurement, Logistics, Professional Services, and Prefab. They will drive operational excellence by implementing the financial operating model, stewarding capital investments, managing asset utilization, and ensuring accurate allocation and reporting of profit back to regions. The Finance Director will work with pillar leads, project teams, regional finance, and the Corporate Finance Group to champion financial rigor and enable the O2S’s growth targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and continuously improve the O2S’s financial operating model, including service-based profit allocation to regions based on usage metrics and pillar performance.
  • Oversee rate-setting, billing, CapEx strategy, and financial controls for all O2S services, driving economies of scale and net margin expansion.
  • Lead development and tracking of critical KPIs related to asset utilization, cost performance, O2S adoption, and value creation, in partnership with Data and Operations teams.
  • Manage annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning for the O2S, incorporating CapEx investments ($100–150M over 3 years for facilities, equipment, and acquisitions), OpEx requirements, and ROI analysis.
  • Coordinate financial decision-making and compliance across all O2S service pillars, including capital roadmap, asset depreciation, and service rate structure.
  • Guide implementation of financial processes for transactional and strategic services (e.g., billing for equipment/fleet, procurement contracts, prefab revenue streams, logistics movements, and professional service engagements).
  • Work directly with pillar leads to support robust financial interfaces with project teams, ensuring transparent and accurate intake, service delivery, and final invoicing.
  • Maintain accountability model for O2S-driven profit allocations, and communicate with regional finance staff about key changes, phased transitions, and impact to business units.
  • Support ongoing change management and communication, educating stakeholders on The O2S’s financial processes, KPIs, and alignment with margin expansion goals.
  • Prepare and present financial analytics, management reports, and recommendations for the O2S leadership, executive committee, and BOD as required.
  • Liaise with Corporate Finance Group on tax, license, compliance, and accounting standards, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • As the O2S scales, help define and refine the finance organizational structure, including hiring for critical roles within the finance/accounting team.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting; construction, asset-based, or service organization experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of service-based financial models (profit allocation, rate-setting, asset management, CapEx/OpEx tracking) within a complex, multi-pillar business.
  • Financial acumen to support high-impact capital investments and operational margin expansion across diverse service lines.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive financial discipline.
  • Skilled in KPI development/tracking and data-driven decision-making; proficiency with ERP and reporting tools; advanced Microsoft Excel required.
  • Proven ability to work proactively and independently in a newly created fast-scaling business.
  • Experience implementing financial controls for high-volume transactional activities and supporting specialty strategic engagements preferred.
  • Ability to manage up, down, and laterally, with strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
