LOCATION: Carnegie Library (CA) @ 301 E Jackson St, Muncie, IN 47305

JOB TYPE: Part-time

SCHEDULE: 20 hours/week; ideally Tues-Fri from 9am-2pm but can be flexible

COMPENSATION: Min $13.00/hour

ABOUT CARNEGIE LIBRARY (CA)

Located in Downtown Muncie, the historic Carnegie Library is a specialty library that houses the Local History & Genealogy collection. Carnegie Library also provides free public access computer use, free Wi-Fi, low-cost printing and copying, free programs on a variety of subjects, and community meeting space. Carnegie Library was built in 1902 and opened to the public in 1904. It has been in continuous use as a library since its opening and is on the National Register of Historic Places.


POSITION PURPOSE

To provide general cleaning and maintenance assistance and perform projects as assigned.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform these functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Clean interior of Library properties (vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, sanitize, etc.)
  • Assist with maintenance of system (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
  • Assist with mowing, shoveling snow, mulching, and landscaping
  • Make minor repairs as needed
  • Drive Library vehicles for pick-ups and deliveries

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License

Preferred:

  • Experience in cleaning and/or maintenance work
  • Basic electrical, plumbing, painting, and/or mechanical knowledge


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The demands below may be required to perform essential tasks satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Frequently stand, stretch, bend
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Work in all weather conditions for long periods of time
  • Be comfortable working on ladders
  • Use hands and fingers to handle equipment, brooms, shovels, etc.
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Frequently lift, carry and/or move up to 50 lbs.
