Scope of Position:
The Training and Development Supervisor oversees the training program related to the Bacon department within our organization. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing training protocols, overseeing new hire training, annual training as well as other corporate scheduled trainings throughout the year. This role works closely with HR and Operations to meet all training needs and training opportunities the facility has.
This position will spend the majority of the time on the floor and working closely with the operation teams focusing on the core of our business.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and supervise Bacon trainers: set goals and standards, train and mentor, evaluate performance, and oversee their daily operations in accordance with company’s policies and quality standards.
- Establish and maintain processes and procedures that ensure smooth delivery of classroom training, including scheduling, instructor notes for all training programs, creating and updating training manuals, etc.
- Responsible for facilitating new hire orientation
- Tracking new hire progress throughout probation period with trainers; addressing hourly employee evaluations when performance decreases.
- Responsible for ensuring floor trainers meet the following expectations: instill all JBS values, no new hires moved, complete all training documents, ensure new hires are qualified timely, complete weekly meetings with new hires and supervisors, follow up with operations and human resources on any new hire issues, focus all attention and resources on new hires and their successful on boarding
- Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Facilitation of training to the management team
- Generate reports on training-related topics at management's request
- Assess and Analyze training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
- Tracking annual training completion and other corporate scheduled trainings throughout the year.
- Develop and promote positive working relationships with new hires, peers, leaders and clients
- Involvement in development and implementation of retention initiatives at the plant level.
- Cross-train in areas of HR as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of prior supervisory experience highly preferred
- 5+ years of production experience required; knowledge and experience directly within the bacon department highly desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, Bilingual preferred
- Flexibility in schedule based on training needs throughout the plant
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills, Excel and Word are critical
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence.
- Solid time-management and project-management skills.
- High School degree or equivalent required
Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
This role is based in a processing facility and individuals in this role are expected to spend time on the plant floor. While at the facility, employee will be subject to extreme temperatures, humid/wet environments and other hazards common to a food manufacturing facility
