POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Site Supervisor is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for school-aged children, ensuring high-quality program delivery, compliance with all YMCA and EEC regulations, and building strong relationships with youth, families, and the community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervise daily operations of the South Hadley after school program, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants.
  2. Lead and support program staff, including training, scheduling, and ongoing development.
  3. Plan and implement engaging age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and academic growth.
  4. Maintain compliance with YMCA, EEC, and state regulations, including staff-to-child ratios, safety procedures, and record-keeping.
  5. Build positive relationships with parents, guardians, and community partners.
  6. Foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and teamwork.
  7. Communicate effectively with the Program Director and other leadership staff regarding site operations, successes, and concerns.
  8. Support YMCA’s mission and values, serving as a role model for children and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 20 years old and meet Massachusetts EEC requirements for Site Supervisor
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working with children in a licensed child care or school-age program; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities (including physical play).
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • YMCA Leader Certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must pass all background checks and meet all YMCA and EEC training requirements.
