Nicolet Area Technical College seeks a Facilities Maintenance Worker with a passion for safety, performance improvements, and efficiency to perform a variety of day-to-day physical plant and preventive maintenance assignments. The normal work schedule is 40 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday between 6:30a.m. and 3p.m. This position requires flexibility to work other shifts, weekends, and additional hours when needed.

Position Duties

(List is not all-inclusive; other duties may be assigned.) 
•Perform programming of building automation systems including electronic HVAC controls, lighting controls, and electronic door security system to coincide with room scheduling.
•Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance to heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
•Perform routine preventive maintenance to fire alarm systems, clocks, emergency battery unit, and lift station.
•   Perform routine repairs and preventive maintenance to plumbing fixtures.
•   Complete welding and fabricating tasks.

  • Construct and repair furniture & equipment.
  •   Performs minor construction and remodeling projects.
  •   Perform routine preventative maintenance on overhead doors, locks, and closers.
  •   Perform installation and repair of all locks, including key cutting.
  •   Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications including ordering of materials for projects. 
•Operate heavy to light duty equipment including but not limited to skid steer, end loader, ATV equipped with plow, chain saws, leaf blowers, weed cutters, sidewalk edgers, walk behind lawn mowers, riding lawn mowers, line painters, snow blowers, scissors lift, boom lifts, portable generators, portable sump pumps, pickup truck equipped with a snowplow and towing trailer.
•Perform manual labor including but not limited to shoveling of snow and dirt, raking, weed pulling, shrub and tree pruning, moving of office and classroom furniture, minor carpentry, spreading salt by hand and with walk behind spreaders, spreading grass seed and mulch, planting and caring for trees, shrubs, and flowers, and maintaining woodburning fireplaces.
•Perform skilled painting of common construction materials such as drywall, metal, wood, and plastic.
•Record and maintain accurate records of time and materials using an electronic maintenance management software system. Proficient in use of electronic mail and timesheet systems.
•Make recommendations to the Director of Facilities regarding budget, safety, planning, etc., as it relates to specific responsibilities. 
•Observe safety regulations and policies.
•Attend job-related training programs.
•Function as a College ambassador in routine interactions with other College teams, faculty, staff,           
  Students, vendors, and the public.
•Respond to emergency calls during and after normal working hours. Including clean-up of blood-borne pathogen spill incidents.
•Make efficient use of time and assigned resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of commercial heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, and building electrical systems.
•Knowledge of commercial building electrical systems, and the ability to replace bulbs, ballasts, outlets, sockets, and switches.
•Ability to oversee and explain projects to others, and to function harmoniously in a team environment.
•Ability to effectively follow oral and written instructions.
•Ability to communicate effectively using written documentation and orally relayed information.
•Must be able to manage various materials, hand tools, and electrically operated equipment including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC test equipment, for extended periods of time.
Required Qualifications: 
•High school graduate/GED/HSED required.
•Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Experience in building maintenance, grounds keeping, and heavy equipment operation. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
•   Three years of experience in a facilities maintenance position desired.
•   Experience in welding, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry desired.
•   Familiarity with electronic maintenance management and building automation systems desired.

 •  Must be able to wear a respirator and protective clothing of standard sizes.
 •  Must be capable of working from ladders and scaffolding, and high lift equipment

Other Qualifications

Compensation:
The typical starting pay range for this position is $ 23.91 - $ 27.33 per hour commensurate with experience and qualifications. Includes a comprehensive benefits package.
