Under the administrative supervision of the Program Manager, the position is responsible for the educational and vocational development of assigned individuals enrolled in the Work Services Program of the Burnley Center.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor degree in a professional category specified in the Department of Public Welfare, Vocational Facilities Regulations (2390.33) required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of three (3) years experience working directly with development disabled individuals required.

  • Prepares correspondence maintains case records, completes written reports and statistics as necessary for the efficient operation of the program.  (E)
  • Integrates, coordinates, and monitors active treatment services provided to the individual in accordance with the Individual Written Program Plan and the Base Service Unit MH/MR Annual Service Plan.  (E)
  • Provides behavioral management services and support and/or applies Crisis Intervention Techniques as needed.  Supervises direct care staff in the implementation of these plans.  (E)
  • Supervises and instructs individuals in relevant development and vocational areas.  (E)
  • Conducts personal, vocational, and social adjustment counseling.  (E)
  • Interprets program procedures and practices to individuals and their treatment teams/families/guardians.  (E)
  • Coordinates, schedules, and conducts meetings of the individuals’ interdisciplinary team to review the individuals’ program plan in accordance with prescribed statutes and regulations.  (E)
  • Provides support services as needed for direct care staff during lunch/break times during the occurrence of absences to maintain compliance with the Department of Welfare 2390 regulations.  (E)
  • Assists in maintaining program, including site preparation, as a separate licensing facility within the Vocational Division.  (NE)
  • Participates in the screening of individuals for admission to the program. Conducts social and vocational interviews.  (NE)
  • Provides in-service training through staff planning meetings providing internal and external educational experience for staff relating to their responsibilities, daily program operation, and policies and procedures.  (NE)
  • Maintains relationships with community agencies, individuals, and families.  (NE)
  • Works with administration and staff to plan and develop a comprehensive program to promote the individuals’ social and functional skills to facilitate maximum functioning and independence in the program.  (NE)
  • Completes discharge process, compiles necessary documentation in accordance with existing regulations.  (NE)
  • Serves as a liaison between the program and other multi-disciplinary staff of Allied Services and other agencies, which provide direct and support services.  (NE)
  • With the Program Manager, performs a periodic review of the total program and evaluates its effectiveness for the individuals involved to determine long-term program goals.  (NE)
  • Performs the duties of the Therapeutic Activities Coordinator.  (E)
  • Responsible for supervising and ensuring all consumers have exited the building when closing and securing building.
  • Performs duties of Program Manager in his/her absence.  (E)
  • Provides direction and assistance to program staff in implementation and techniques of programmed activities to allow for maximum individual social and vocational development in accordance with the Individual Written Program Plan.  (E)
  • Participates in inter-agency team meetings at various community sites.  (E)
  • Develops, in conjunction with Base Service Unit Behavior Specialist, all plans of support dealing with aggressive and non-cooperative individuals.  (NE)
  • Assists with closing and securing building as building key holder as needed.
