Position: Industrial Fleet Tech/ Senior Mechanical Technician
Shift: 1st Shift (8 hours)
Compensation: $35-39, depending on Years of Experience


Overview of Role:

The Senior Maintenance/Vehicle Technician performs and supports advanced maintenance, repair, and diagnostic tasks on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, mobile equipment, and facility systems within an industrial environment. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The role also supports reliability efforts, ensures equipment uptime, and contributes to the overall safety and efficiency of plant operations.


Core Competencies:

  • Mobile Equipment Maintenance: Proficient in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mobile equipment such as forklifts (specifically propane, electric, and diesel-powered units), man lifts, tuggers, and other plant vehicles and machinery utilized at the P-H facility. Strong understanding of hydraulic, brake, and steering systems commonly found in mobile industrial equipment.
     
  • Mechanical & Electrical Skills: Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems, including motors, drives, circuits, and control panels.
     
  • Problem Solving & Diagnostics: Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to assess root causes, determine effective corrective actions, and implement solutions quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime.
     
  • Preventive Maintenance: Advanced knowledge in developing and executing preventive maintenance routines to improve reliability and extend equipment life.
     
  • Safety & Compliance: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental compliance. Consistently promotes and adheres to workplace safety standards and best practices.
     
  • Communication: Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments, interface with leadership, and coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
     

Key Deliverables:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, including motors, pumps, compressors, valves, and controls.
     
  • Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on mobile industrial equipment used throughout the facility.
     
  • Identify and resolve complex issues with facility and production equipment, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
     
  • Execute preventive maintenance activities and maintain accurate PM records in the maintenance management system.
     
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and assist in restoring equipment to service safely and efficiently.
     
  • Assist in planning and executing capital and maintenance projects, including equipment installations and infrastructure upgrades.
     
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, including time, parts used, and corrective actions taken.
     
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed in accordance with applicable safety codes, quality standards, and environmental regulations.
     
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining organized documentation and adhering to compliance requirements.
     
  • Collaborate with other departments such as operations, production, and engineering to ensure maintenance activities align with production schedules and goals.
     
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance practices, identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, and contribute to ongoing reliability initiatives.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a technical certification or associate's/bachelor’s degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical/electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
     
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial fleet maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
     
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or facilities maintenance, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership capacity.
     
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair methods.
     
  • Proven experience with preventive maintenance programs focused on equipment reliability and operational uptime.
     
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
     
  • Skilled in the use of diagnostic and maintenance tools such as multimeters, vibration analyzers, torque wrenches, and other precision instruments.
     
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety and compliance standards, including OSHA regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
     
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to resolving complex technical issues.
     
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
     
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with peers, supervisors, and vendors.
     

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or large-scale facilities maintenance setting.
     
  • Background in working with mobile equipment commonly found in industrial environments.
     
  • Familiarity with project coordination or small-scale project management in a maintenance context.
     

Technology Requirements:

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders, maintenance history, and parts inventory.
     
  • Proficiency in using a variety of diagnostic equipment and tools for troubleshooting and system analysis.
     
  • Ability to utilize software platforms for scheduling, documenting, and reporting maintenance activities.
