Benton County Public Work's Engineering Division is looking for a Civil Engineering Associate.

 Job Summary
Provides engineering, program and project management services for the County's bridge, culvert, and drainage program, transportation system, land development review, capital improvement projects and environmental issues.  Provides project infrastructure design, development of plans, specifications and estimates, and construction engineering.  Meets with citizens, neighborhoods, developers, businesses, utilities, committees, elected officials, state, federal and other local government agencies in regard to projects or programs.

  • Annual salary range of:
    • $79,653.41 - $115,046.43
    • This position guarantees two salary raises within your first yearIncreases are given at the end of the 6 month probationary period and at the 1 year anniversary, as long as your performance is in good standing! Increases are given until the maximum of the salary range is reached.
    • For most employees who take advantage of health benefits the salary only makes up 60% of their total compensation. The County invests in you and your family!

Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field ;AND
  • 3 years of experience in Civil Engineering or similar field.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Please note candidates must have at least 6 months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.

Special Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Must obtain an ODOT flagger card within 6 months of hire
  • Must obtain First Aid / CPR Certification within 6 months after hire.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Knowledge of Federal and state statutes, rules, ordinances, standards, and local codes for infrastructure improvements.
  • Skill in:
    • Interpreting and applying technical standards and procedures.
    • Reading and interpreting project plans, maps, diagrams, and technical documents.
    • Performing engineering calculations and analysis, specifically for road and storm drainage projects.
    • Using a personal computer with standard and specialized engineering software.
  • Ability to:
    • Demonstrate courteous behavior when interacting with the public and County staff.
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing with an appropriate level of technical terminology for the situation.
