The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all safety and security programs within the facility. This role plays a critical part in fostering a culture of safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, and proactively minimizing risks to employees and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with plant employees, supervisors, and leadership to promote a culture of safety and safe work practices.
- Develop, implement, and maintain facility-wide safety and security policies and procedures in collaboration with management.
- Execute safety initiatives and programs that ensure a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.
- Deliver safety and health training, coaching, and instruction to ensure compliance with all applicable occupational safety and health regulations.
- Evaluate and enhance current safety training programs through ongoing review and recommended improvements.
- Provide expert guidance on emergency preparedness, risk management, accident prevention, and general workplace safety.
- Authorize the stoppage of operations or activities deemed unsafe to personnel or equipment.
- Conduct thorough investigations of incidents and accidents, prepare documentation, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor safety performance data, identify trends, and lead structured problem-solving efforts to resolve recurring safety issues.
- Promote employee engagement in safety through coaching, positive reinforcement, and behavior-based safety programs.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, and standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 4 years of occupational health and/or safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Proven experience in inspections, incident investigations, hazard assessments, and safety training.
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards for accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
