The McGillis School, an established, independent K-8 school in Salt Lake City, Utah is looking for a long term substitute to take over for a Humanities teacher in our Integrative Studies program in the Middle School, beginning in January of 2026.

Position Description
The ideal candidate will have teaching experience, enjoy working with Middle School students, and have a willingness to create and implement integrated curricula. In our Integrative Studies program, teachers of humanities, writing, and science collaborate closely to plan and deliver a dynamic curriculum that makes explicit interdisciplinary connections.
Responsibilities
- Develop well-reasoned lesson plans and units in close collaboration with colleagues.
- Meet weekly with Integrative Studies and departmental colleagues to engage in the collaborative planning process.
- Apply various effective, research-based instruction and assessment techniques.
- Differentiate instruction within a heterogeneous classroom.
- Manage a positive and structured classroom environment.
- Communicate with parents/guardians and colleagues.
- Monitor student safety at all times.
- Participate in weekly faculty meetings if needed.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.
- Participate in co-curricular program opportunities specific to The McGillis School (Family Group, Shabbat, Advisory, etc.)
- Serve as a Mentor to a small cohort of Middle School students.
