Description

Our dynamic and community-centered organization is looking for an energetic, conscientious, and resourceful Farm Assistant to join our team for the summer season (March through October). The Milk and Honey Farm is a 2+ acre educational, sustainable farm located at the Boulder JCC. The farm brings community members together for experiential programs and activities grounded in Jewish heritage, tradition, and values and provides a place for individuals to connect on the simplest level with soil, plants, animals, and people.


This position will also include access to fresh produce throughout the season.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Enjoys working independently, staying focused, and problem solving
  • Team player – works well with the farm team for the good of our mission. Works well with volunteers and community members
  • Assist with general up-keep and maintenance of Farm properties (Greenhouse, Orchard, Tzedakah field, Educational garden, Pollinator garden, Other areas as they are developed); tasks include mowing, string trimming, electric fence management, irrigation up-keep, planting, weeding, and other farm chores
  • Assist with animal care of the goats, chickens, and fish
  • Assist with other Farm projects
  • Supervise community volunteer times as necessary
  • Lead work projects for volunteers
  • Train volunteers in good farming practices

COMPENSATION

This is a part-time non-exempt hourly position with a salary range of $16.06-$18/hour commensurate with experience. This is an average 15-hour per week position that runs from September through mid-November. The benefits for seasonal staff currently include a 403b retirement plan with generous company match and paid sick leave. This position will also include access to fresh produce throughout the season.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more seasons working on a large garden and/or farm
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in the heat, sun, cold, rain, and all weather conditions
