GENERAL SUMMARY
Serves as a Human Resources Generalist in the Credit Union administrative setting. The primary responsibility is to provide excellent service by demonstrating the principals of SouthPoint Financial Credit Union and adhering to the vision of “Empowering People to Enhance Lives”. The HR Generalist is a key contributor to the success of core HR operations, driving excellence in benefits, leave management, payroll, and compliance. With a proactive and detail-oriented approach, this role ensures smooth execution of essential processes, supports employee engagement, and fosters alignment across teams. The HR Generalist brings energy, precision, and partnership to every aspect of the employee experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Serve as the primary owner for all FMLA, MNPL, ADA, and LOA, as well as any other leave policies and processes, ensuring accurate administration and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Lead benefit administration activities, including open enrollment, and provide backup support to the HR Manager as needed.
- Serve as payroll processor/administrator, ensuring timely and accurate processing in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate onboarding activities, including the completion of legal and compliance documentation (I-9, E-Verify, etc.), to ensure a seamless and compliant integration of new hires into the organization.
- Facilitate performance management by monitoring review deadlines and supporting the review cycle, including the development and tracking of Objectives and Key Results.
- Provide backup for compliance administration and contribute to the maintenance of accurate employee records.
- Assist with the logistics and administration of employee engagement initiatives and surveys, including compiling and analyzing data to support organizational action planning.
- Collaborate with managers to maintain and update job descriptions, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and regulatory requirements. Provide backup support for job description management as required.
- Provide backup support for monthly full staff meetings, including agenda development, outreach to presenters, and meeting logistics. Serve as backup for Coaches Circle and employee relations support, contributing to a positive workplace culture.
- Manage relationships with benefits and leave vendors, ensuring effective service delivery and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Perform additional job-related duties to support the Human Resources function and organizational objectives as needed.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements.
- Demonstrate a general understanding of HR metrics and reporting by preparing, interpreting, and communicating information such as turnover, leave usage, and benefits participation to support informed decision-making and ongoing improvement.
- Provide backup support for employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to HR processes, benefits, and payroll, ensuring documentation and practices meet regulatory standards.
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and enhance service delivery, collaborating with team members to implement best practices.
- Provide backup support for the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), including data entry, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with the coordination and delivery of employee training programs and professional development initiatives as needed.
- Maintains good communication with vendors used to assist the credit union in developing and maintaining its Talent Department programs.
- Attend meetings, seminars, conferences, and training courses.
- Abide by all Bank Secrecy Act responsibilities for this job role.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Requires completion of a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration or other related field of study.
- Requires at least five years of experience in a Human Resource position.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
- Requires knowledge of credit unions products, services and delivery channels.
- Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Sitting 90-95% and standing 5-10%
2. Working at a computer 90% of the day
3. Utilizing the phone 40-60%
4. Bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, or crouching when appropriate, on occasion
5. Repetitive movements, including but not limited to typing, using a mouse, phones, etc.
6. Occasional lifting up to ten lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Works in a typical administrative setting with climate control and appropriate lighting.
