Position Description

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) invites applications for a tenure track, full-time Assistant/Associate Professor position in the Department of Counseling and Applied Behavioral Studies to teach in our CACREP-accredited in-person Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling programs and engage in scholarly work and service to the Department, University, and community. The position is scheduled to begin in August 2026. The successful candidate will join a student-centered learning community that focuses on the development of the whole person.

USJ welcomes open-minded applicants who bring a broad range of perspectives and skills demonstrated in their teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical practice. Candidates with both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applications received on or before November 1st


 Requirements:

  • Completion of an earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education preferably from a CACREP accredited program by the appointment start date is required
  • Clinical and teaching experience germane to the position are preferred
  • Licensed/Certified or eligible as an LPC or School Counselor in Connecticut
  • Commitment to an outcome-oriented curriculum designed to prepare students for competent counseling practice
  • Adherence to ACA Code of Ethics and CACREP (2024) Standards
  • Commitment to the mission of the University of Saint Joseph
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
