Position Summary:

The Part-Time Kidslink Site Supervisor will provide a supportive, respectful, safe, and healthy environment for all children enrolled in YWCA Hartford Region’s Kidslink programs; supervise a team of Assistant Teachers in a positive work environment that reflects the YWCA Hartford Region’s mission; lead the staff in a supportive and collaborative approach to all program duties and efforts including the execution of all aspects of the daily schedule, taking attendance, preparing and serving snacks, organizing transitions to other activities, and communicating with families; monitor children at all times, paying special attention to behavior and reinforcing compliance with YWCA Hartford Region’s Kidslink and Early Learning Center (ELC) Program standards; and initiate and implement planned activities geared to the developmental needs of a larger group of children.


Essential Functions of the Job:


Site Management

· Maintains an orderly, safe, healthy, warm, and inviting environment per licensing regulations and YWCA Hartford Region health and safety standards;

· Follows defined State and YWCA Hartford Region protocols for reporting suspected child abuse or neglect, to include documentation, notification of the Office of Early Childhood (OEC) and Department of Children and Families (DCF) when applicable;

· Implement and monitor the consistent application of defined appropriate behavior and discipline as defined by the YWCA statements, policies, and procedures, and school rules;

· Administers First Aid/CPR and medication per the OEC and YWCA Hartford Region’s policies and procedures;

· Works with site staff to establish a predictable daily schedule, which includes times for adequate transitions;

· Orders equipment and supplies per YWCA Hartford Region’s financial guidelines;

· Monitors outside play space to ensure that it is safe, clean, and well-maintained;

· Reports any work-related injuries to Supervisor and HR immediately;


Program Operations

· Ensures that all child and staff files are accurate and up to date;

· Ensures appropriate classroom behavior management, supporting children by providing positive guidance and redirection, and implementing individual Support Plans and the YWCA Hartford Region’s Positive Guidance Policies;

· Leads the site staff in developing and implementing curriculum and activities that provide a balance of active/quiet, teacher-led/ child-led, and guided by YWCA Hartford Region’s mission to meet the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child;

· Works with the staff team to develop short and long-term goals for maintaining a high-quality program;

· Ensures the implementation of appropriate behavior and discipline as defined by the YWCA Hartford Region and school rules;

· Provides ongoing supervision and oversight of children by moving about the room and supporting and guiding them while they are engaged in activities;

· Ensures the delivery of the snack and the health and sanitation of snack time;


Staffing & Supervisory

· Establishes staff schedules and contingency staffing plans to ensure adherence to state-mandated staff-to-child ratios;

· Provides supervision to designated program staff to include: scheduling, personnel actions, coaching and mentoring, participating in hiring actions, and completing payroll;

· Provides guidance and assistance to staff in the delivery of high-quality programs and services;

· Ensures that staff complete all training requirements (i.e., Sanctuary Training, CPR, etc.);

· Works with the supervisor to complete any Corrective Actions needed regarding OEC inspections;

· Attends monthly Site Supervisor meetings;

· Holds staff meetings at least monthly and records and maintains minutes of staff meetings;

· Attends Sanctuary Training, and other job-related trainings and seminars, and remains current with trends, development, and best practices in the field of childcare and early childhood education;


Program Liaison

· Establishes an environment where children and staff show respect and feel respected, with a constant focus on speaking kindly and using good manners;

· Develops and maintains positive working relationships with staff, families, peers, and associates;

· Models a degree of professional decorum and dress appropriate to the program's mission and values to ensure achievement of the same by staff members;

· Fosters cross-program/site collaboration, flexibility, and cooperation;

· Maintains student and family confidentiality; and

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

· 12 credits in ECE or higher, Degree in ECE or related field.


Experience:

· Meet requirements to be certified as a Head Teacher through the State of Connecticut, Connecticut Charts-A-Course www.ctcharts.org;

· Demonstrated ability to develop age-appropriate exhibits and activities for the classroom;

· Basic knowledge of the principles of child development;

· 21 years of age or older; and

· CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within two (2) months of employment.


Schedule:

· This position is an hourly, non-exempt position. Standard hours of operation are Monday–Friday, 6:45 am – 8:30 am and 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm. The work schedule and hours will be defined by the Department Head or direct supervisor. Due to the nature of the work, some weekend and evening hours may be required.
