Job Title:  Universal Banker I

Department:  Operations

Location:  Union Springs, NY

Position Type: In Person Full-Time/Hourly 40 hours week - Monday thru Friday occasional Saturdays as needed

Job Summary: 

A Universal Banker completes a wide range of tasks. Processing a variety of financial transactions including check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, loan payments and opening accounts. Personal service and dependable guidance is a must. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receiving deposits and loan payments, cashing checks, issuing savings withdrawals and recording night and mail deposits.
  • Sells cashier’s checks and series e bonds.
  • Answers questions in person or on telephone and refers customers to other bank services as necessary.
  • Open new bank accounts (checking, savings, IRAs and CDs) according to regulations and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to customers in a friendly and courteous manner at all times.
  • Have sufficient knowledge about the banking products and services and respond to all inquiries accordingly.
  • Ensure that all the bank’s policies and procedures, code of conduct and regulatory guidelines are strictly complied with in the process of discharging duties.
  • Provide information to customers on their account status and account balances.
  • Provide assistance to all other members of staff in other departments of the bank by liaising with them through healthy interactions.
  • Establish and promote cordial relationship with customers, ensuring prompt attendance to their inquiries and solving their problems to grant them maximum satisfaction.
  • Ensure that customers’ confidential information is properly protected and only used for official purposes.

· Understand the bank’s policies and propose solutions to customer problems, and also possess in-depth knowledge of the   company’s products/services so that the customers can be correctly informed.

· As the first line of contact customers have with the bank, Universal Banker IIs are expected to be courteous, friendly, helpful and neatly dressed at all times.

· All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Effective listening skills demonstrated by the ability to listen to other people talk without interruptions, understand them and then propose solutions or make contributions based on the points made.

· Strong communication skills. 

· Must possess excellent multi-tasking skills and be able to function under pressure.

· Ability to use the computer efficiently and also learn how to use new software.

· Must be patient and willing to help others in solving problems while maintaining a positive attitude at all times.

· Must have a keen eye for detail and follow instructions to the letter.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

· The minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or GED. 

· One year prior experience in customer service preferred.

Schedule:

· Full-time Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm. Some Saturday’s 9am – noon required.

Salary:

· $18 – 20 per hour, commensurate with experience
