Performs set-up for a variety of production machines to operate at output quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Prepares and performs set-up for a variety of production machines.
- Conducts regular checks for quality.
- Performs minor machine maintenance repairs.
- Performs tooling maintenance repairs.
- Read blueprints and copy prototypes for making set-ups.
- May perform repairs on previously manufactured products and/or make prototypes.
- Uses knowledge of the machine capacities and abilities for set-up responsibilities.
- May be required to program computerized numerical control equipment.
- Instructs machine operators on proper operation and use of machinery.
- Keeps work area clean and orderly. Responsible for conducting all work in a safe manner following established safety procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May participate on project teams as requested.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees.
- Math Skills: The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, & decimals.
- Other Skills: Ability to operate forklift. Ability to accurately read blueprints, tape measures, micrometers, and other measuring devices.

- Lifting Frequency: Heavy lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects with average weight of 25 lbs.

- Repetitive Hand Action: Firm grasping - the ability to exert sufficient grip to pick-up a case of 12 oz. soft drinks or to pick-up a bowling ball. Requires approximate grip strength of 45-60 lbs. on a hand dynamometer.
- Fine Manipulation of Hands/Fingers: Sufficient coordination to place and screw a small washer on a bolt, to pick-up clips from a desktop or pick-up a dime off a counter top. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
