Cambridge has recruited talented interns from across the country to join us during the summer for a 11 week paid internship. We'll have over 25 interns join us at our home offices in Fairfield, Iowa and Phoenix, Arizona. The Next Step internship program gives students practical insight into the financial services industry and allows students to gain practical knowledge in their field. Students are partnered with a professional mentor, supervisor, and executive leader to gain networking opportunities and learn from industry professionals. At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will have the opportunity to present on their experience and a specific project of their choice.
Essential Duties:Cambridge offers internship opportunities within its Accounting and Investments & Insurance departments, providing students with hands-on experience in financial operations, product research, and cross-functional collaboration. These roles are designed to build foundational skills for careers in accounting, product analysis, financial advising, and other areas within the financial services industry.
We have two Finance/Business Internships available in the Fairfield, Iowa office or our Phoenix, Arizona office.

As the Accounting Services or Insurance & Investments Intern, you will:
- Understand core accounting processes through exposure to Cambridge’s different systems and capabilities
- Review and enhance accounting procedures and data integrity processes
- Conduct due diligence reviews on investment and insurance products and with the goal of presenting new product solutions to Cambridge’s Executive sponsors
- Collaborate with internal teams (compliance, trading, legal, operations) and external product sponsors
- Gain increased knowledge of the financial services industry, while developing problem solving, research, and leadership skills
- Collaborate with associates, leadership, and executives within the department and serve as a contributing partner in team meetings, project meetings, and ongoing Cambridge activities
Education & Experience:
Students studying accounting, management, finance, business, actuarial science, or similar majors will likely be the most successful in these roles.
$17-$21 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the compensation to be offered for this position based on the ideal candidate’s qualifications, the Company’s operational needs, and other considerations permitted by law. The actual pay offered to a specific candidate may vary above or below the stated range.

- Networking events: Interns have the opportunity to network with our company executives during the Welcome and End of Summer Banquets. Interns will participate in leadership panels to hear from company leaders, ask questions and gain valuable insight as well as have the chance to job shadow in other teams at Cambridge. Following the summer internship, interns have access to the Next Step Intern Alumni LinkedIn group to stay in touch with Cambridge and other past interns.
- Opportunity to discuss continued employment with Cambridge on a part-time or full-time basis following the internship.
