You’re already excelling—spearheading high-profile initiatives and setting standards others aspire to reach. But what if you could do even more? At CDM Smith, we believe that top talent deserves top-tier support. Here, you’ll find more than just challenging projects; you’ll join a collective of renowned engineering minds, backed by the resources, technology, and leadership commitment needed to turn vision into reality. If you’re seeking an environment that values your expertise, amplifies your impact, and surrounds you with peers who match your ambition, this is your invitation to accelerate your legacy.

We’re seeking a Senior Process Mechanical Environmental Engineer—someone who’s ready not just to participate, but to elevate. Here, your ideas won’t just be heard—they’ll be championed and realized on a scale that moves communities and advances the industry. If you’re ready to lead innovation among experts who respect your journey and are eager to support your next breakthrough, let’s shape the future of water together, with purpose and excellence.

As a project technical leader, you will inspire and guide the technical direction of multidisciplinary projects, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and quality across all deliverables. You will actively mentor and develop technical project staff, fostering a collaborative environment where growth and expertise flourish. Working side-by-side with Project Managers, you will help shape, plan, design, and manage large-scale municipal projects that make a tangible impact.

Transform high-level project objectives into thoughtful evaluations and designs for a wide range of moderate to complex process mechanical tasks connected to water and wastewater pumping and treatment facilities.

Conduct facility evaluations and provide actionable recommendations for improvements, including the conceptualization and design of innovative alternatives.

Lead comprehensive final design work—analyzing data, performing pump and hydraulic calculations, designing process piping, and determining optimal sizing and selection for treatment facility tanks and equipment.

Collaborate closely with Building Information Modeling (BIM) specialists to refine facility layout designs and develop detailed drawings.

Prepare meticulous technical specifications and front-end contract documents for publicly bid design projects, ensuring clarity and compliance.

Engage in water quality analyses and system modeling to optimize performance and resilience.

Conduct thorough site reviews to align designs with location-specific requirements, updating design parameters as needed to reflect on-the-ground realities.

Review draft designs and technical reports to ensure they meet client expectations as well as all federal, state, and local regulatory standards, signing off on completed work products. Rigorously uphold firm policies and best practices in all technical outputs.

Take a hands-on role in managing assessment and design activities, serving as Task Manager or Project Technical Leader for high-profile client engagements.

Advance the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management by authoring white papers, technical documentation for unique or complex design cases, and submitting technical work for publication in leading journals.

Collaborate with sales and business development teams to craft compelling proposals in response to RFPs and actively participate in meetings with both current and prospective clients to discuss their evolving design needs.

Enhance the firm’s industry visibility by attending and presenting at relevant conferences, symposia, and professional events, in partnership with sales staff.

Provide expert technical guidance and ongoing training to junior engineering staff. Mentor and nurture early-career team members, supporting their professional growth within the discipline and the broader organization. Supervise the work of junior engineers as required on project assignments.
