Head Varsity Track and Field Coach - Thomas Jefferson High School for 2025-2026 school year
Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
Part-year, non-contracted, extra-duty position. QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrate an interest in and aptitude for performing the tasks listed.
2. Such alternatives to the qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director and Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide strong leadership to help each student achieve an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship as it relates to individual and team success.
2. Provide proper training and instruction to develop and enhance the skills necessary for achievement in the given sport.
3. Develop and implement comprehensive in season & out of season training programs/practices.
4. Convey a positive image to the media and respond to all media inquiries in a timely manner.
5. Responsible for the oversight of the middle school, junior high, junior varsity and varsity programs.
6. Responsible to interview & recommend assistant coaches for all levels to the Athletic Director.
7. Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment and is responsible for the collection of uniforms and equipment following the conclusion of the season.
8. Submit budget requests for the purchase of new equipment and supplies to the Athletic Director in a timely manner.
9. Responsible for the submission of coaching requirements for coaches at all levels.
10. Oversee the general safety and security conditions of the practice facility/area and activities in which the student athletes are participating.
11. Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times for students and coaches.
12. Assign specific duties and responsibilities to assistant coaches and supervise their work.
13. Adhere to all PIAA, WPIAL, and school district regulations.
14. Monitor academic progress and confirm athletic eligibility of team members.
15. Be a professional representative of the school district and a positive role model at all times.
16. Assist and guide student athletes through the college recruiting process.
