The Public Schools of Brookline (PSB) is looking for a detail-oriented individual with a background in web design to coordinate the completion and launch of a new web platform for the District. The Website Project Coordinator is responsible for taking the lead on the project, which is already underway. PSB is working with Finalsite to migrate all web content from the Blackboard platform to Composer; this migration will have to be complete by the end of 2025. The Website Project Coordinator is needed to build out the remaining webpages and assist PSB staff with the transition. This position will also need to reach out to District leaders to set up permissions and develop a plan for ongoing site maintenance. This position will be supported by Finalsite representatives, who offer training and support to the District. 

This is a part-time, stipend position that will report to the Office of the Superintendent and Administration and Finance 

Job Responsibilities: 

Planning, Assessment, and Content Preparation

  • Review the Current (Blackboard) and pre-launch site (Composer), and ensure that all critical information is up to date 
  • Work with PSB leadership to identify key users of the site, and who will be responsible for department websites after launch 
  • Manage permissions on the current PSB site
  • Stay on top of ongoing basic maintenance of District and school sites
  • Work with Finalsite representatives to develop and implement a style guide for the new site homepages and subpages 
  • Ensure all links, documents, names, and dates are up-to-date on the Composer site 
  • Work with administrators to set development and content priorities for websites 

Training and Delegation

  • Communicate with directors and principals to establish permissions for department-based website management
  • Work with secretarial staff and office managers to ensure that they can perform basic maintenance on department sites 
  • Set up permissions and login credentials on Composer for new users 

New Site Launch

  • Act as a liaison between PSB and our website provider (Finalsite) to ensure that the new site migration stays on schedule for a December launch
  • Work with Finalsite to complete quality assurance
  • Confirm migration accuracy; and ensure that all information on the updated site is correct

 

Required Education and Related Work Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, anticipated Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in web design and/or school communications
  • Proficiency in Google Drive and all MS Office applications required. 
  • Working knowledge of Composer and Blackboard web content management preferred
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal - required. 
  • Experience with web design and implementation required
  • Experience working within a school district preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Physically capable of carrying out the daily responsibilities of the office including (but not limited to): 
  • Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, etc. 
  • Work involves frequent interdepartmental and public interactions with internal/external Stakeholders.
  • May spend extended periods at desk, on the phone or operating other office machines, 

requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
