Qualifications:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, like education, social work, or psychology, is preferred
  • Experience with effective lesson planning and instructional delivery.  
  • Experience working in an educational setting, particularly in a role involving student support, behavior management, or program coordination
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Experience with implementing restorative practices or similar approaches to student discipline
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) are essential for this role, given the need to interact effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools, which involve tracking student outcomes and assessing program effectiveness

 



Purpose: The Refocus Program Coordinator will support students who disengage from class or need to step away to regain focus. This role would focus on providing a structured and supportive environment within a designated “Refocus Room” where students can work for at least 3 periods a week for at least a 3-week period on one or more of the 8 Behavior Academies and return to the learning environment as quickly as possible. 



Essential Job Functions: 

 

  • Managing the Refocus Room: Organizing and resourcing the Refocus Room daily
  • Student Support: Providing intervention and support to students, particularly those who may be struggling with engagement and require additional assistance to reintegrate into school life
  • Behavioral Intervention: Working with teachers and other staff to support challenging students and implement effective strategies to address behavioral issues
  • Family Engagement: Collaborating with families of identified students to improve their engagement with school
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records, potentially including attendance, student progress, and program outcomes
  • Collaboration: Working as part of a team, including teachers
  • Communication: Maintaining open communication with teachers, parents, and relevant staff regarding student needs and program updates
  • Safety and Environment: Ensuring the Refocus Room provides a safe, positive, and nurturing environment
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
