Position: Producer
Location: Washington, DC Metro Area (Gaithersburg, MD or White Oak, MD)
Work Environment: Hybrid (Required to report on-site as directed with flexibility for remote work when appropriate)

Knowesis is currently seeking a Producer to support the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by managing all aspects of multimedia production from concept to completion. This role is central to the creation of engaging and professional video content, live streams, and other multimedia deliverables that communicate complex public health information to both internal and external audiences. The Producer will ensure production quality, consistency, and timely delivery while working collaboratively with FDA stakeholders, creative teams, and technical staff.
The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with FDA executives and staff to develop scripts, storyboards, and visual treatments for multimedia content.
- Coordinate production logistics, including scheduling, location scouting, and equipment preparation.
- Develop detailed production schedules and ensure resources are allocated.
- Draft, refine, and finalize storyboards and scripts; operate teleprompter during shoots as needed.
- Direct on-set activity to ensure message alignment and optimal performance.
- Capture professional-quality video and audio footage using advanced production equipment.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Edit and assemble video footage into a cohesive final product, incorporating motion graphics, color correction, and professional audio mixing.
- Create vertical video content optimized for social platforms (e.g., Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts).
- Deliver short clips and highlight reels for internal and external amplification.
- Export final video deliverables in multiple formats for web, broadcast, and social media distribution.
- Maintain organized archives of all raw and final video assets in compliance with FDA and federal records management standards.
- Participate in kickoff, monthly status, and ad-hoc meetings.
- Provide project status updates, risk identification, and mitigation strategies in accordance with contract requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Digital Media, Audio Visual Production, or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in video production, sound production, lighting, and/or editing.
- Demonstrated proficiency with professional video production equipment (cameras, lighting, audio) and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Proven expertise in shooting, writing, clipping, and editing to create compelling broadcast and digital stories.
- Strong storytelling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Availability to work outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary.
- Applicants must also pass a background check and VA onboarding procedures to gain access to VA systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting federal government agencies, preferably in a public health or science communication environment.
- Familiarity with live streaming workflows, rapid turnaround production, and crisis communication requirements.
- Ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences (news, health, policy, science).
