Salary Base salary: £59268pa to c.£69727pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a Project Manager at HS2 you will be responsible for managing tasks within the CIU handover strategy development and supporting the Main Works Civils (MWC) IPTs in demonstrating readiness for handover to Rail Systems Contracts and other key Stakeholders. The role will include interface management between the MWC IPTs, Stakeholders, HS2 business functions (Land & Property, Utilities, Technical Services, Asset Management etc), to ensure best for programme opportunities are identified and realised as well as mitigating interface risks where possible.

 

About the role:

  • Supporting the Senior Project Manager and Head of CIU on the development of a phase-wide handover strategy specifically relating to handover of Main Works Civils Contract assets to Rail Systems and Others (Network Rail, etc.) 
  • Acting as the primary interface between the CIU and MWC-IPTs. Coordinating the timely transfer of information to support integration tasks including facilitating the pilot testing of MWCC asset handover to Rail Systems/Others, identification of scope gaps via Interface Control Document development, identification of risks relating to handover and collating lessons learnt based on previous handover and pilot handover testing.
  • Producing clear, structured and coherent papers for submission into formal governance forums by drawing on broad stakeholder groups to ensure persuasive exhaustive impacts have been considered • Interface into various governance forums to represent Integration challenges and ensure that forum agendas cover applicable topics 
  • Producing clear reports, metrics and data to demonstrate the progress of the Handover Integration activity being managed by the CIU 
  • Supporting the development and improvement of milestone planning and reporting as characterised by the Configuration States & migration plans such that these plans proactively address integration challenges and address all areas of less tangible integration aspects 
  • Managing temporary resource to deliver ‘task and finish’ integration activities across the Programme. 
  • Assessing Integration processes and data quality and proposing improvements where applicable. 
  • Follow up on change Contract level instructions and monitor their implementation across the various stakeholder groups, including but not limited to; HS2 delivery teams and internal functions, HS2 supply chain and designers and further external stakeholders such DfT, ORR, HSE, Fire Authorities, Network Rail and TfL.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

 

About You:

Skills: 

  • Problem Solving – the ability to identify problems and review related information in order to manage the development and evaluation of options and implementation of solutions, including the ability to manage and plan multiple workstreams and consider the competing demands of stakeholders, cost, time and quality 
  • Data Analysis – the ability to assemble data, analyse it, identify trends and anomalies and be able to report it in a coherent, clear and easily translatable way 
  • Decision Making – the ability to identify, manage, gather and synthesise the necessary information and facilitate the identification of options and the application of judgement based on logic and reason
  • Influencing & Negotiating – the ability to influence and negotiate with internal functions and external supply chain partners. 
  • Project Management - the ability to develop, plan and integrate projects to optimise target costs, dependencies, risk management and project benefits. Skills profile aligned to APM Project Manager (advanced). 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to resolve emergent risk situations. 
  • Ability to identify potential for automation in data management, process control and delivery. 

Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge profiled aligned to APM Project Manager (advanced) 
  • Understanding of the nature of the relevant contract structures and the design and application of appropriate contract and supplier performance systems. 
  • Understanding of risk identification and management 
  • Understanding of project schedule management, dependencies and risk assessment 
  • Understanding of change control and governance within large project delivery organisations 

 

Type of Experience: 

  • Experience of collaboration in large multidisciplinary projects or programmes 
  • Experience of the entire project lifecycle including planning, procuring, developing and implementing project activities. 
  • Experience of leading, managing people and working across functions and disciplines to deliver complex objectives. 
  • Experience of NEC contracts
