Role Purpose: This exciting role offers the opportunity to be part of our PR team’s mission to ensure B&Q is seen as the No1 place for home improvement by consistently generating fresh ideas that drive fame and advocacy. We want to champion B&Q hero products, services and initiatives in the most engaging way possible through smart thinking and curated opportunities.
What's the job?:Press Office Operations
- Handle reactive media enquiries and issues.
- Manage press office processes: budget tracking, invoices, media monitoring.
- Maintain platforms like Press Loft and Epresspack with up-to-date content.
- Respond to agency/journalist requests and share insights internally.
- Support regional PR for store openings.
Campaigns & Content
- Assist in delivering PR campaigns across media channels.
- Collaborate with marketing to ensure PR content aligns with broader campaigns.
- Participate in shoots, events, and influencer gifting.
- Draft statements and Q&As for product/store/service issues.
Measurement & Reporting
- Compile coverage reports and campaign insights.
- Manage media monitoring to inform future planning.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Align with Social & Digital teams on influencer and earned media.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external contacts.
- At least a years' experience in PR, journalism or wider marketing, with a passion for transitioning into PR (this can be inclusive of work placements during studies)
- A degree (or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Advertising or Marketing is an advantage
- Strong understanding of the UK media landscape, with a sharp eye for cultural trends, the news agenda, and social media conversations
- Confidence in building strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders, from buying teams and agencies to journalists, influencers, and talent agents
- A problem-solver who stays calm under pressure and can deliver to tight deadlines
- Organised and detail-focused, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once
- Naturally curious and creative, flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated with a positive, driven attitude
