We are looking for a Risk Manager (m/f/d), based in Munich.
Your Team
You will be part of the Enterprise Risk Management team which is globally overseeing the management of operational risks for the entirety of Allianz Commercial including all its subsidiaries and branches. Every team member is the dedicated 2nd Line of Defense counterpart for different functions within Allianz Commercial. This makes the topics we deal with very diverse as it ranges from areas like HR over Accounting to our core business areas (UW, Claims). For this reason all members of the team have different 1st Line of Defense know-how, but we all share our passion for risk management to ensure consistency.
The Impact You Will Have
In this role, you will be responsible globally for ensuring that qualitative risks of various areas of Allianz Commercial are adequately managed by respective risk owners. This includes overseeing that material risks are identified timely, assessed adequately, sufficiently mitigated based on the risk appetite of the organization, reported to senior management. In addition, the role includes the ownership of individual risk management processes end 2 end. You will report to the Head of Enterprise Risk Management.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Ensure that an effective risk management framework is in place for specific broader areas.

Oversee that risks are managed by the 1st Line of Defense in line with risk strategy (e.g. by testing key controls)

Interaction with senior management of the business (i.e. 1st line of defense) on risk management topics (including definition of risk mitigation measures).

Manage the Internal Control System related activities for functions in your area of responsibility

Risk governance, including implementation and maintenance of policies and standards.

Coordinate the overarching Internal Control System framework

Reporting of operational risk management related topics to various bodies
What You’ll Bring to the Role
-
Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or any other analytical discipline (e.g., Risk Management, Actuarial Sciences, Finance)

Strong Finance and Insurance know-how (ideally P&C) as well as understanding of complexities inherent in an insurance group (consolidation processes, legal vs. management view) allowing for cross-departmental thinking and acting

Expertise in qualitative risk management techniques, including risk identification, assessment, analysis, and control, with the ability to apply these techniques appropriately.

Experience working with regulatory requirements

Proficient IT skills in MS Office including VBA and relevant expert systems (preferably R)

Outstanding problem solving skills with the ability to navigate complexity

Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.

Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence stakeholders without authority resulting in positive outcomes

Ability to work effectively in an international and dynamic environment, demonstrating excellent intercultural skills

Self-motivated, result-oriented and independent individual; a strategic thinker with a track-record of driving change.

Fluency in English is required
